Processing and mounting your deer at affordable prices!

Craven Deer Processing is a NCDA inspected facility. Deer have to be skinned and gutted to be processed between opening day of bow season until the day before muzzle loading season. During bow season and after deer season is over drop off hours are from 10am-5pm Tue-Fri and Sat 10-2.

From the opening day of muzzle loader season until the last day of the regular season deer drop off hours are from 8am-8pm Mon-Sat. During these times you can bring it in any way you wish.  We take them skin on, guts in, field dressed or quartered up. 
We are closed on Sundays, Thanksgiving day and at noon on December 24th and all day Christmas day. Even a deer processor and his crew needs at least one day of rest a week!
 We do accept legally harvested deer all year but it must be quartered and cleaned outside of the regular Central muzzleloader/gun season.

We will give you back 100% of your processing fee if your deer tests positive for Chronic Wasting Disease.

 We will be attempting test all the deer we process for CWD. If you have a full service deer processing done we will test the deer for CWD if you are not having the deer shoulder mounted. To do the test we will have to ruin a cape to get the Lymph Nodes. If your having your deer processed with us and you are having it mounted simply find a Taxidermist participating in CWD testing and have them run the test. Most all Taxidermist are participating in the CWD testing program this year.  
If your deer is positive the NCWRC will notify you in 6-8 weeks after it is sent off for testing. If you hear nothing after 10 weeks more than likely your deer tested negative.

If you have your deer quartered and want us to test for CWD bring the deer head in bagged up with your meat.  The head has to be with the meat at time of drop off to do the CWD testing.

The remaining portions of the head after testing will be disposed of accordingly.

FULL SERVICE PROCESSING-$140

This service includes skinning/caping out, gutting and processing to your specifications. It also includes testing for CWD a money back guarantee if your deer comes back with a positive CWD test.  No need to have to figure in time after the hunt to skin and gut anymore.  At such a busy time of year it makes deer hunting a lot more enjoyable when you know that deer will not keep you from your job, family time and get togethers anymore.


PROCESSING ONLY-$80

This service is offered to our customers if you have already skinned, gutted and quartered the deer and bring it to us. IF you bring your deer head in bagged up along with the deer we will test your deer for CWD for free.  If your deer comes back positive for CWD and we tested it we will give you 100% of your money back. test results currently come back in 10-15 weeks.  If the deer is not quartered there is a additional $10 breakdown charge.


There is always hamburger or sausage!
We strive to give you all the select cuts we can but there is always trimmings left that are only good for hamburger or sausage. The more select cuts you ask for the more trimmings there will be. If you do not specify which you want we will make it into hamburger. We do have a 10lb minimum on sausage flavors we offer.
There is a 10lb maximum of whole meat jerky strips we can make per deer. If you think you can get all your deer cut into whole slices of jerky and not have trimmings you must have the jaws of a coyote. I'd suggest getting a jerky gun and making jerky out of the ground meat you get back from us after the 10lbs max is met or choose some other cuts. Once again, there will always be hamburger or sausage if you have us process your deer. We do offer just skinning and quartering of your meat for $60.

Craven Deer Processing is a NCDA inspected facility.  We have NCDA inspectors here on a weekly basis. Each deer that comes in is put into a food grade container with your name, address, harvest ID number and phone number and what cuts you prefer attached to it.  Deer are NOT mixed with other deer to assure that what you get is exactly what you brought in.
No coolers, bags, boxes or any other items are to be left on the premises. Any containers WILL be disposed of and a surcharge of $5.00 will be added to your bill to cover the disposal cost.
We offer hamburger, steaks, cube steaks, roasts, stew meat and sausage.  If there is a particular cut you prefer please tell us at check in. Please limit your choices to 3-4 different cuts per deer.
All deer will be wrapped in butcher paper and frozen before you pick it up.  We will call you once it is frozen and you will have 3 days to pick up your meat to avoid storage fees.  Storage charges are $5.00 a day starting on day 4 until you pick it up or when 1 week has went by from day 4.  After that point it will be disposed of properly and a bill of $35.00 plus processing fees will be sent to your address. Deer may be picked up during regular business hours.
